The Light of East is an ensemble
that is based in London, Ontario, Canada, that performs music from
the Near East and Middle East.
Specifically, traditional, folk,
classical Arabic, and modern urban music of the 20th century, from
countries such as, Armenia, Greece (Asia Minor - Smyrni, and
Konstantinoupoli) Turkey, Iran, and all of the Arabic countries such
as, Egypt, Lebanon, Syria, etc.
The mentality of the Light of East
is to promote unity in diversity, showing that the musical roots of
all of these regions, and countries with different, but similar
cultures and traditions originate from the same tree.
